One of the challenges that immediately face those who begin thinking in terms of survival preparation has to do with…surprise…money. As with just about everything in life, having money and the ability to continue to make more of it can go a long way to solving just about whatever problems you may have. A great way to meet the need of having more money for your survival planning is with a home-based business. The home based-business is an excellent choice because it allows for you to have an additional income stream while at the same time being able to establish a measure of independence that will one day become essential in a survival environment.
Regardless of how you come to realize additional income, it’s important to do so in order that you have the resources to accumulate the additional assets and equipment you need to properly convert your living situation into one characterized by complete readiness for actual survival circumstances. Assuming you are serious about planning for living in a world characterized by long-term distress, you will need money. In order to create an existence that will allow you and your family to live comfortably, you will need more cash to purchase everything from extra batteries and medical supplies, to stores of food and precious metals, to generators, extra vehicles, lots of other miscellaneous supplies, and at least one parcel of real estate, with a living structure to go on it, as well as an associated infrastructure. Survival preparation, of the kind that is meaningful, is not cheap.
Beyond the basic need for additional money, you have to begin thinking about the best way to make money as a survival-minded person. For a few reasons, it’s in your best interests to do so by working for yourself, and preferably in a business that you can do entirely from home. For one thing, if you take a second job as an employee somewhere, you’ve made no step toward transitioning away from dependence on a local economy that may well become compromised as a part of the troubles to come. Additionally, and on that same note, once your home-based business starts to thrive to the point where it can replace your primary income source, you then have the flexibility to live where you want, to include from your ideal survival retreat.
When thinking about what to select as a home-based business, choose something that is not just home-based in the sense that your office or workshop is located at home, but also where you, again, do not have to rely on local customers or the local economy in order for the business to remain open. The advent of the Internet and other technologies has made it possible for people to work from home in businesses like freelance writing, Internet marketing, outsourced customer service, medical billing, and many other fields where one’s physical location is now irrelevant to the job. The ability to make money not just away from the local economy, but from customers based all over the world, will go a long way to ensuring that you can continue to earn money for as long as it’s possible to do so.
Another advantage to home-based self-employment is that as you become known locally and through your circle of friends and acquaintances as someone who is part of the survivalist community, you need not fear losing your job because of your perspective. We live in very politically correct, hypersensitive times, and many companies, to say nothing of government agencies, are intolerant of those who can be perceived as being discontent enough with what’s going on in America to plan for survival conditions taking hold. While self-employment does not automatically guarantee that you won’t experience any backlash because of your notions, as you still have to rely on a willing flow of customers to stay in business, the reality is that as a self-employed, work-from-home businessman, you have a much more manageable situation in that regard than you would as an employee at an organization that has no tolerance for even the incidental expression of these sorts of ideas.
The things we talk about at Christian Internet Income.com are going to be good considerations for you as one who is serious about developing additional streams of income from home. That said, whether you go that route or decide to try another, the point is that effective survival planning includes not just stocking up on food and guns, but giving some real thought as to how you will finance your preparations and continue to make money during the period when there is still commerce being transacted somewhere…just not in your local community.
