The events in Syria are developing very quickly and are highly significant in biblical prophecy. Damascus, Syria is one of the oldest cities on earth. You may remember the biblical account of Christ appearing to Paul on the road to Damascus. The Bible predicts in Isaiah 17 the complete destruction of Damascus.
“See, Damascus will no longer be a city but will become a heap of ruins."
The biblical account translated literally predicts that Damascus will disappear as a city. Some have speculated that this must be linked to a nuclear attack by Israel that will leave Damascus abandoned just like Chernobyl and Fukushima.
A scenario that we have considered is the inadvertent destruction of weapons of mass destruction that are being hidden inside Syria. If conventional weapons were to explode a nuclear stockpile this would create the exact same outcome as a so called dirty bomb.
There have been rumblings for years that Saddam Hussein moved his WMD to Syria as the days of the second Gulf War were approaching. While we don't know exactly how the destruction of Damascus will occur, it appears to be more than a city traditionally destroyed by war, it is a city that becomes completely abandoned by human beings. It seems likely that nuclear weapons will be involved in this in some form.
Watch Syria closely in the coming weeks and month as it may be the next major piece to the puzzle added as we see the end of days accelerating.

Isa 17:1-11. PROPHECY CONCERNING DAMASCUS AND ITS ALLY SAMARIA, that is, Syria and Israel, which had leagued together (seventh and eighth chapters).
Already, Tiglath-pileser had carried away the people of Damascus to Kir, in the fourth year of Ahaz (2Ki 16:9); but now in Hezekiah's reign a further overthrow is foretold (Jer 49:23 Zec 9:1). Also, Shalmaneser carried away Israel from Samaria to Assyria (2Ki 17:6 2Ki 18:10, 11) in the sixth year of Hezekiah of Judah (the ninth year of Hoshea of Israel). This prophecy was, doubtless, given previously in the first years of Hezekiah when the foreign nations came into nearer collision with Judah, owing to the threatening aspect of Assyria.
