Some have speculated that the Mark Of The Beast, as described in the book of Revelation, will come in the form of a bio-chip implant. We can certainly see that as a possibility. Many believe, however, that the mark will be a stamp or tattoo actually on the skin of one's right hand or forehead. This may seem a bit too low tech for today's advanced society but I would not rule it out. Look at the image below. It is called a QR code.
A QR Code is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code), readable by dedicated QR barcode reader and camera phones. The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded can be text, URL or other data.
For businesses that get listed in Google Local search results, Google sends them a window display like the one below:
There are apps available in the iTunes store that allow you to take a picture of a QR code and process it through your phone instantaneously (called QR readers). The result can be a menu for a restaurant, a list of specials, a coupon, or link to a store's website. These appear to be harmless uses of the technology (so far). Be clear, however, that technology is now in place for a physical mark that can be used for identification and transactions as described in the book of Revelation. In fact, this very technology is already possible on your iPhone or other smart phone device.
